Today we have a really make sense thing

Today is a rainy day, but I still have a great passion for my assignment, to interview the 

coaches from the Premier League（英超）.

England is the origin of the modern football, three coaches from different clubs 

there have popularized their advanced idea in fifteen countries. This is the 

second time for the Premier Skills（学转英超） to come to Shanghai. Trainees are of two types, one is Chinese sports teachers, a

nd the other is young football newbies. They can promote not only football skills 

including reflex, ball possession and force but also English level during five or 

six days’ closed training. 

There is always hearty laughter around the field today. JJ Gao (G高俊健) and I 

(W王煌) had a chance to interview the chief coach from Tottenham Hotspur 

（特托纳姆热刺）, Tony Tilbrook (TT)：

W:：First I want to say congratulation to you, for your club had a good rank in the last season and has qualified 

        the UEFA champions league (欧冠).

TT:：Thank you.

W:：I’d like to ask you a question. Why do you come here and teach them lessons?

TT：Premier Skills is a unique project. We have a new idea called football community（足球社区）．A football community can be a city, a school, and even a family. All the people can 

    join it, no matter you are young or old, slim or fat. A football community holds 

    regular football matches to let players join in. Professional referees, medical 

    personnel and audiences are all the members of it. Thus, most dwellers can play 

    football while just a few people could play it in the past. Meanwhile, dwellers are 

        getting healthy and strong, and the city’s software and hardware are getting better. Our 

    coming is to develop football community in Shanghai, Beijing and two other cities. We select school 

    sports teachers and teenagers because they are the new blood of a city. We have a 

    good time these days. They hold a great passion to the training.

W:：You have been here for five days. What do you think about Chinese football?

TT：Chinese football is kind of backward in fact. No matter the World Cup or the Olympic games, China seldom 

       plays well enough to attract people’s attention, and the result is China has few chances to

   show their ability to the world. I think China should do better in the internation

   -al and Asian competitions to increase the visibility, and then China will be known 

   and have more chances to develop their ability. Well, it’s hard to say, for China 

   has beaten France recently (joke). 

G：You mentioned the World Cup just now, so which team do you root for?

TT：Undoubtedly Spain because my family is in Spain. There are a number of talented footballers in this national 

        team such as Xavi, Villa and Torres. I believe they are the best.

G：The South Africa World Cup finals will take place between Spain and Netherlands  at tomorrow dawn. 

   Can you predict which team will make history?

TT：I have to admit both these two teams are strong. It will be a fierce competition between Dutch total football 

        and Spanish 4-2-3-1 formation. No matter which team will win the game, this team will be the 8th winner 

    and make history. But I am Spanish, so I support Spain. I wish they can win the 

    game. 

W：That’s all. We are so honored to have this chance talking with you. I expect you 

   will come to Shanghai a third time. Thank you. Have a good time.
